Prime Minister Narendra Modi commenced his inaugural state visit to the United States by meeting renowned American economist Prof Paul Romer, co-founder of Bridgewater Associates Ray Dalio, and other distinguished thought leaders. The purpose of these interactions was to exchange views and apprise them of the Indian government’s reform trajectory, aimed at fostering economic growth.

On June 20, PM Modi arrived in New York City, marking the first leg of his visit. He kickstarted the visit by leading the celebrations of the International Day of Yoga at the United Nations Headquarters. Furthermore, he is scheduled to hold crucial bilateral talks with President Joe Biden in Washington.

Expressing his anticipation, PM Modi tweeted, “Landed in New York City. Looking forward to the programmes here including interaction with thought leaders and the Yoga Day programme tomorrow, 21st June.”

This trip marks PM Modi’s sixth visit to the U.S. as Prime Minister, and it will be his first official state visit, hosted by U.S. President Joe Biden and First Lady Jill Biden.

During his stay, PM Modi will engage with top U.S. officials, members of Congress, prominent American CEOs, and the Indian-American community. The discussions will primarily focus on strengthening trade and energy ties, fostering collaborations in science and technology, education, and healthcare sectors. The visit is expected to yield several significant agreements, particularly in the defense sector, including deals pertaining to jet engines and drones.

By engaging with influential leaders and stakeholders, PM Modi aims to strengthen bilateral relations and explore avenues for mutual cooperation between India and the United States. The visit holds substantial promise for enhanced strategic partnerships and advancements across various sectors.

As the world awaits the outcomes of this significant diplomatic endeavor, it is anticipated that PM Modi’s visit will not only strengthen India-U.S. ties but also have a positive impact on India’s global standing and economic growth.
