Prime Minister Modi’s Historic Visit to ISRO: Celebrating Chandrayaan-3’s Success
Prime Minister Narendra Modi, fresh from his trip to Greece, visited the Indian Space Research Organisation’s Telemetry, Tracking, and Command Centre (ISTRAC) in Bengaluru, Karnataka. He met with the successful Chandrayaan-3 team, including ISRO Chairman S Somanath, who briefed him on the mission’s developments. During this visit, PM Modi coined the landing site of Chandrayaan-3’s Vikram lander on the Moon as ‘Shivashakti Point’ and declared August 23, the day of the lunar landing, as National Space Day.
Naming Lunar Landmarks: ‘Shivashakti Point’ and ‘Tiranga Point’ Honored
PM Modi commended ISRO’s innovative and unique approach, naming the point where the Vikram lander touched down, and also named the site of Chandrayaan-2’s crash landing in 2019 as ‘Tiranga Point’. He highlighted that the ‘Shivashakti’ point will inspire future generations in the field of science and technology. He praised the key role played by women scientists and emphasized their empowerment in achieving this feat.
